Out of Wine…Life is Crap!

That was the t-shirt I was wearing last week when I stopped into the office at my kids school.  Of course, it didn’t don on me that I had that t-shirt on until one of the teachers in the lobby started laughing.  I gave her a funny look and she said, “I LOVE your t-shirt!”  “Holy Crap,” I thought to myself as I had just walked out of the Principal’s office after talking to her about an elective class the school was offering.

Now mind you, I hadn’t planned on going in to the office that morning, I was actually on my way to the gym and at the last-minute remembered that I needed to talk with her, so I ran in to the school…obviously not remembering what I was wearing!  But I must say, I was pretty embarrased and felt like a horrible parent.  I mean what kind of parent would wear that to their kids school!

Personally, I like to think that my husband and I are pretty good parents.  We don’t have all of the answers, and of course, it’s all somewhat trial and error, but I can only hope we are doing some things right.  Although, it’s funny, because even at 41-years old, I sometimes think I am too young to be a parent.  I mean, how can I be responsible for two other human beings.  Responsible for their health, their happiness, their education…their everything?!?  Why is it that when you are little, your parents seem so old, but when you are a parent, you still feel so young?

Our older daughter will be hitting her teens in a few years, and I know that is when the real parenting fun will start, so all I can hope is that we continue to try to do our best and raise happy, healthy, well-balanced kids.

And in the meantime, I will make sure to have lots of wine on hand because although I may have had a bad parenting moment by wearing that t-shirt to school, I still believe the message!

Until next time…Namaste!

    YOU!

I have worn my “Will Work for Margaritas” shirt a number of times to the kid’s school. People always comment. I think they are just jealous. Really though, as if I was had time for a job right now..

However, I would rather know that a child’s parent had a sense of humor and see it on their chirt than see a parent running around with one of those leashes on their child. I don”t think any sane person would question your parenting skills.
